Getting Started with IconSprint

IconSprint gives you a focused workspace for turning quick ideas into polished icon sets. This guide follows the same steps you'll take in the app so you can go from sign-up to your first finished batch with confidence.

Before you begin

  • Use a modern browser so live updates appear without refreshing.
  • Have access to the inbox for the email address you'll use to sign in. The login arrives as a magic link.
  • Write down a short description or a few keywords for the icon you want to create.
  • Visit the login page and enter your email.
  • Open the message we send and click the “Sign in” button. The link signs you in immediately and takes you to the icons dashboard.
  • That's it! There's no extra onboarding checklist or team invite step. As soon as you land on the dashboard you're ready to generate icons.

Want a different display name on your account? Open Settings → Account after you sign in and update it there.

2. Confirm your starting credits

When the dashboard loads, any signup bonus credits are added automatically. Your current balance appears in the top navigation next to the coin icon.

Credits balance in the top navigation

Click that balance (or go to Settings → Credits) to add more credits. The Balance tab includes a Top up your balance button that opens a secure checkout window. Use the Purchases tab for receipts and the Usage tab to review each icon request. Failed or cancelled runs show up as zero-credit entries so refunds are easy to spot.

3. Icons list page

The default view where you'll spend most of your time. Use Create New Icon to open the generation form. The panel at the top lists any requests that are still running (with a cancel option after a short wait), and the grid below shows every icon you've already created.

4. Launch your first icon request

  • On the Icons page, select Create New Icon.
  • Choose whether you want to describe the icon directly or provide an app description, then write your prompt. You can also ask IconSprint to suggest a prompt if you're stuck.
  • Pick one or more styles (up to five) and decide between standard or HD quality. The credit calculator at the bottom tells you exactly how many credits the request will use.
  • Select the variants you need. The standard variant is always included, but dark, tinted, and mono options are optional and come at no extra cost.
  • Optional: set background colors for light and dark versions if you want pre-rendered canvases.
  • Submit the form. The modal closes, the dashboard refreshes, and the status panel at the top starts tracking your request with live progress updates.

5. Track progress and review results

While a job is running, the status panel keeps updating with progress and offers a cancel button once the request has been queued for a little while. When the run finishes, the new icon appears at the top of the grid. Each thumbnail automatically shows the standard variant for your current theme so you can review results quickly.

Click any thumbnail to open the detail view. From there you can switch between Edit and Preview modes, tweak platform-specific options, revisit the original prompt, and download a bundle with all required sizes. Every completed request is also listed in Settings → Credits → Usage, giving you a clear record of how credits were spent.
